Grandvalira is the largest ski resort in the Pyrenees, running a vast OT network that controls everything from ski lifts and cable cars to snowmaking and access systems. With thousands of visitors depending on that infrastructure daily, system availability is both a business imperative and a public safety requirement.
| The Transition
Growing digitalization brought escalating cyber risk to Grandvalira’s OT environment — and the stakes were high. A single peak-season outage could cost over €1 million in a day, while a failure in chairlift or snow production systems could endanger guests. Legacy systems with long lifecycles, limited update flexibility, and low asset visibility made conventional security approaches unworkable.

Rather than isolating equipment when threats are detected — which would halt operations — TXOne’s solution pinpoints the exact anomalous communication and blocks only that. Stellar provides endpoint protection by baselining normal system behaviour and blocking unauthorized changes, while EdgeIPS inspects industrial network traffic in real time to detect and stop intrusions without disrupting legitimate operations.

| The Implementation
TXOne’s solution was rolled out progressively across Grandvalira’s distributed resort infrastructure, operating transparently within the OT network without altering any existing workflows. Today it protects snow production systems, more than 20 critical ski lifts, and PLCs and industrial control systems — with IT/OT event correlation enabling unified detection and response across the organization.
